FIRST PUBLISHED: KAIROS ATHLETICS
Coaches often ask athletes to “stay out of trouble”, but they offer no guide or fail to fully inspire the athlete to do so. The Kairos Athletics concepts offer some general tenets that we ask the athlete to “work” throughout his/her striving.
Consider what you know of great performers’ mentalities – Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Martina Navratilova, Muhammad Ali, Roger Federer.
In countless interviews, these peak performers explain how they constantly worked on eliminating weaknesses. One of the hardest things to do is to look in the mirror and see what is truly looking back at you. However, to grow stronger the athlete must develop the ability to identify weakness and eliminate it.
Therefore, an athlete truly set on achieving their full potential must commit his or her self to being honest away from sport as well as inside of it. Lies to other people will indefinitely turn into lies to one’s self. Any athlete truly serious about reaching peak performance will make it a priority to be an honest person to enhance their performance. Sport makes one strong in life.
Then, make a plan to eliminate weaknesses and improve strengths. The second part is the art. You can keep coming back to Kairos Athletics for help.
